About the MPLP
Longitudinal Data System

Purpose

The Longitudinal Data System (LDS) is a secure, web-based platform supporting comprehensive evaluation of the Mathematics Professional Learning Partnership (MPLP). Developed by WestEd the LDS serves as the central hub for collecting, storing, and integrating evaluation data throughout the grant period (January 2026 – June 2029). WestEd serves as the independent evaluator for MPLP, designing and implementing a mixed-methods evaluation to assess the initiative's effectiveness in building sustainable systems for equitable mathematics professional learning across California.

The LDS enables longitudinal monitoring of participants and outcomes across multiple data collection tools, including participation forms, pre/post surveys, and activity monitoring instruments. By connecting participant information across all instruments, the system creates comprehensive engagement profiles that support analysis of participation patterns, knowledge growth, and implementation outcomes over time.

About the Mathematics Professional Learning Partnership

The Mathematics Professional Learning Partnership (MPLP) is a statewide California initiative led by Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) in partnership with the California Mathematics Project (CMP) and California County Offices of Education. Funded through June 2029, MPLP focuses on implementing the 2023 California Mathematics Framework through a comprehensive system of professional learning and support for mathematics educators across the state.

MPLP uses a tiered Train-the-Trainer model involving County Offices of Education (COEs), California Math Project regional sites, regional hub leaders, and mini-grant recipients to build coaching capacity statewide. The initiative provides targeted professional learning to mathematics coaches and teacher leaders, with additional support for administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals.
